Begin your journey at our Eat Sleep Cycle Cafe in the centre of Girona and ride down to the magnificent Tossa de Mar. Take on Sant Grau, a wonderful 9 km climb with 385 m of elevation and 4% average. Look out for hidden beach coves along your journey and if your legs are feeling good, walk the Camí de Ronda from your hotel in Llafranc and see how versatile this region is. Ride acorss the hills in Begur and discover the relaxing wine region of Empordà as you gradually pedal your way north along the Costa Brava. Take on Sant Pere de Rodes climb and witness the impressive Monastery at the top. On the final day of the tour, head out of the picturesque Cadaqués and make your way inland and back to Girona. Upon arrival, why not have a celebratory drink at the Eat Sleep Cycle Cafe?

Day 1

Welcome to Girona

Begin your journey at our Eat Sleep Cycle Cafe in the centre of Girona. Get set up on your bikes and begin your tour down to the magnificent Tossa de Mar. Ride through small villages, quiet lanes and calming countryside. Once in Llagostera, the challenge of the day begins. Take one Sant Grau, a wonderful 9 km climb with 385 m of elevation and 4% average. From the top, glide down to the picturesque seaside.

Tossa de Mar to Llafranc

Ride with the sea on your right today and enjoy a rolling ride from Tossa de Mar to Sant Feliu. Pass through the pretty cove of S’Agaro and the busy town of Platja d’Aro. Continue along Calonge seafront and at Palamos head inland across flat farmland before turning back to the coast & the pretty villages of Calella & our resting place, Llafranc. Enjoy an afternoon at your own pace - relax on the beach or walk the Cami Ronda to Calella de Palafrugell.

Llafranc to l'Escala

Today, start with the challenging climbs around the Begur headland. After 25 km of beautiful, rolling terrain relax and enjoy the flat wine making region of Empordà. Pass through the medieval villages of Pals and Palau-Sator. Skirt around the base of the Montgri natural park (look out for the castle on top of the hill).

Enjoy a flat ride north from the hotel through the villages of Sant Pere Pescador, Castello d’Empuries & Vilajuïga. From here the road climbs up past Roses and descends into the village of Cadaqués. You are rewarded with spectacular views as you climb and descend.

Cadaqués to Girona

The final leg of the tour takes you up and out of Cadaqués before descending into Castello d’Empuries. From here, it is relatively flat as we ride through the Alt and Baix Emporda known for its versatile flora and fauna. We arrive back to Girona, why not have a celebratory drink at the Eat Sleep Cycle Cafe?

We’ll welcome you to the start of your tour, talk you through the week ahead and ensure you have everything you need to enjoy a great ride.

Guests receive a detailed digital Road Book, containing routes, route descriptions, details of hotels and our recommended places to stop along the way and enjoy in the evenings. Guests can choose to navigate from their own phone or GPS devices are available on request.

On a self-guided tour we take care of your luggage and move it from hotel to hotel. We also provide a contact number for support during the trip and will help you out of any situation.

We recommend that guests are able to fix a puncture and perform basic roadside bike repairs to best enjoy a self-gudied tour.

What happens if I need to cancel the trip?

We have a flexible cancelation policy – please take a look at our cancellation policy at the time of booking. If you have any doubts please reach out and we’re happy to help.

Is the tour the right level for me?

We rate our tours from Level 1 (Leisure) to Level 4 (Epic). Each tour contains a description of the level, expected daily ride time, distance and elevation. If you have any doubts we’re more that happy to speak to you on the phone and help to find you the perfect trip!

What about bikes? Can I hire one or should I bring my own?

We recommend that you hire a bike for your tour and will work with you after you book to help you to choose the best size and model for your ride style. If you prefer to bring your bike, it’s no problem. Please be aware that on some of our epic trips we charge a supplement to transport your bike box to our finishing location. If you have any doubts, please ask!

Is insurance included?

Insurance is not included in our tour packages. We highly recommend contracting travel insurance at the time of reservation with a company from where you are from.

Health insurance which covers you for illness or injury whilst cycling in your chosen destination is mandatory, we’ll ask you for details of your insurance providor before you travel.
