Begin your journey from the Eat Sleep Cycle Hub space in the centre of Girona and prepare for a week of scenic rides, good food and an exploration of Girona as a medieval village in the past and its transformation over the years. The itienrary is relaxed, the roads are smooth and the traffic is minimal – a perfect way to pedal and enjoy your surroundings.

Enjoy one base for the week at Hotel Nord, a boutique hotel just seconds from Girona Old Town. The hotel feature a dip pool and large rooms. Breakfast has been developed with cyclists in mind.

This tour includes selected meals to give riders a true experience of the rich food and culture in Girona; visit our favourite rooftop bar for an appertief, enjoy a guided walking tour through the medieval village of Girona, learning about its rich history and culture. Try lunch at a restored Masia (country house) serving traditinoal cuisine in a historic setting, taste local wine and dine at our favourite seafood restaurant beside the Costa Brava.

ITINERARY

Day 1

Welcome to Girona

Enjoy a warm welcome from the Eat Sleep Cycle team at our very own Hub space in the centre of Girona. Head out for the warm up ride up to the local favourite - Els Àngels. This is a stunning 10 kilometre climb at a steady gradient. You'll be rewarded at the top with views overlooking Girona city, the pyrenee mountains and the seaside before descending back down.

Warm up ride: Els Angels 29 km, 660 m

Day 1

Banyoles Lake

Today, roll out to Banoyles lake in the beautiful countryside. This is a relaxed loop ride with continuous rolling hills. Soak up the views as you sip coffee beside the lake before returning home. Enjoy a walking tour of the historic city of Girona in the afternoon.

Day 1

Traditional Lunch in Masiá

Ride out south of Girona through small roads and villages. There are numeous places to stop for a water re-fill before begining the climb of the day up to Santa Pelallia. This is a steady 6 km climb. It has a sweeping descent into the Baix Empordà region known for its charming medival villages. At kilometre 40, stop for lunch in a restored Masia (country house). A transfer back to Griona is included after lunch.

Day 1

Empordà and Wine

Today's ride is north of Girona and into the Alt Empordà. This region is famous for its vineyards and the home of Salvador Dalí. This is a more relaxed day with no major climbs. The ride finishes with picnic lunch and wine tasting. Enjoy the flavours of the land you've just cycled through. Again, we'll tranfer you back to Girona after the tasting.

Day 1

Tastes of the Mediterranean

The final day of the tour is an extrardinary ride down to the Costa Brava. Ride out through small villages again before reaching the town of Llagostera. From here, climb up the beautiful Sant Grau. This is 8.6 km in length averaging 4%. On a clear day you will see the pyrenee mountains behind you. From the top, you will thank yourself for the effort as you witness the picturesque costa brava ahead of you. Roll down the mountain and ride across this rugged coastline until the charming village of Tossa. Indulge in lunch at our favourite seafood restaurant and transfer back to Girona.

On a self-guided tour it’s important that guests are comfortable navigating. Guests have the contact number for their support vehicle driver and they will never be far away should you need assistance.

What happens if I need to cancel the trip?

We have a flexible cancelation policy – please take a look at our cancellation policy at the time of booking. If you have any doubts please reach out and we’re happy to help.

Is the tour the right level for me?

We rate our tours from Level 1 (Leisure) to Level 4 (Epic). Each tour contains a description of the level, expected daily ride time, distance and elevation. If you have any doubts we’re more that happy to speak to you on the phone and help to find you the perfect trip!

What about bikes? Can I hire one or should I bring my own?

We recommend that you hire a bike for your tour and will work with you after you book to help you to choose the best size and model for your ride style. If you prefer to bring your bike, it’s no problem. Please be aware that on some of our epic trips we charge a supplement to transport your bike box to our finishing location. If you have any doubts, please ask!

Is insurance included?

Insurance is not included in our tour packages. We highly recommend contracting travel insurance at the time of reservation with a company from where you are from.

Health insurance which covers you for illness or injury whilst cycling in your chosen destination is mandatory, we’ll ask you for details of your insurance providor before you travel.
