Belgium | The Grand Tour

Resumen

Ride Belgium end to end, cutting across the heart of Europe through the country that treats cycling like a national faith. This is a week of variety and contrast: storybook towns, quiet weaving lanes, rough-edged cobbles, and punchy hills that keep you honest.

You’ll trace the spirit of the Belgian Monuments on the same roads ridden by the greats — think Eddy Merckx territory, and the home roads of Remco Evenepoel — with famous climbs and race landmarks stitched into the route. Take on the Kemmelberg, feel the bite of the Paterberg, and go deep on the Col du Haussire. Then earn your stripes on the classics tests: Valkenberg, Berendries, and the Muur van Geraardsbergen — the kind of climbs that turn a good rider into a Flandrien.

This is also a ride through history. You’ll pass and pay respect at places that shaped Europe’s 20th century: Tyne Cot and Hill 60, and the Last Post at the Menin Gate. Later, you ride through Battle of the Bulge landscapes as the Ardennes delivers the final challenge.

Cross the linguistic divide from Flanders into Wallonia and watch the world change with it — from open farmland and classics roads to deeper valleys, darker forests, and tougher terrain. Big riding, big meaning, and a route that shows you Belgium at its best.

Itinerario

Día 1
Ypres Ride Out | Memorials

Roll from Ypres and head straight out for a short opener through the calm, open roads of West Flanders.

You’ll pass and visit key WWI sites such as Tyne Cot cemetery, Polygon Wood & Hill 60 riding on quiet lanes before arriving back in Ypres.

We ride the roads that made Belgian cycling what it is: the Spring Classics heartland. It’s flat-to-rolling, perfect for loosening the legs and getting the group riding smoothly together.

The evening features the Last Post at the Menin Gate — a powerful start to the week.

Today we ride the roads that made Belgian cycling what it is: the Spring Classics heartland. Expect fast farm lanes, gritty sectors.

You’ll take in famous names from Gent–Wevelgem and the Tour of Flanders orbit with highlights including the Kemmelberg, Oude Kwaremont, the Patersberg and the Koppenberg.

Test Yourself | Become Flandrien

A proper Flemish Ardennes day, and one that makes you work for it. You’re on Remco Evenepoel’s home roads as you ride out from the classics climbs and into the rolling countryside of the Pajottenland, south-west outskirts of Brussels.

The route strings together iconic tests — Valkenberg, Berendries, and the Muur van Geraardsbergen. Get over today’s climbs and you’ve got the official status: Flandrien.

Día 4
Bienvenue | Hills and Forests

Today you cross the language border into Wallonia. The landscapes get wilder, rougher, the valleys deepen, and the roads start cutting through forested hills instead of open farmland.

The headline is the Mur de Huy — short, brutal, and famous for a reason, with the little chapel watching from the top. Take a breath, take the photo, then drop into the Ardennes with that wow feeling as you roll into Aywaille.

Día 5
Monuments Galore | Col du Haussire

Welcome to Liège–Bastogne–Liège territory. The climbs get longer and harder, and the views start paying you back — deep woods, big horizons, and roads that feel made for hard days out.

You’ll take on the Col du Haussire, often called the hardest climb in Belgium, and you’ll want to respect it. Then save something for La Redoute — a natural arena where champions of cycling are made and crowds usually roar. Finish in Houffalize with that solid, earned tiredness.

Merckx & The Big Climb Finish

Final day, and it’s a belter. From the WWI battlegrounds of the opening, you finish by riding through WWII history — the Battle of the Bulge landscapes rolling under your wheels as the Ardennes delivers one last time.

The Cote de Stockeu is the moment: pay your respects at the Eddy Merckx statue, then keep moving through a stacked set of climbs — Haute Levée, Col du Rosier, and the Cote de Wanne — before dropping into Spa to close the loop properly.
