“ESC organized an incredible trip. Everything about this trip was epic. ESC found an amazing villa a short walk to town and got us a chef to prepare daily breakfasts. The routes were perfect, and our guide, Josep, was a pleasure to be with. Riding both road and gravel gave us a chance to check out a few different bikes from their huge rental fleet look forward to our next trip!”
“Endless views, tour worthy climbs, and practically private backroads, Eat Sleep Cycle’s “Mountains of Catalunya” was a trip to remember. The routes were top tier, only outdone by the accommodations, including a castle and a mountain top retreat with panoramic views. Five stars, highly recommended.”

“I was blown away by Girona. Everyone at Eat Sleep Cycle was fabulous. Mike was awesome, so helpful and had time to chat about rides and the best places to go. After a long bike ride, the cold beer or two went down very well. The food and the coffee in the cafe were perfect, very good quality. We are all looking forward to going back. I also hired a great bike, Basso, amazing!!””

“The team at Málaga Hub is incredibly friendly and professional and they have everything you could possibly need for a ride, whether you’re into MTB, road cycling or just cruising around the city. What I love most is their weekend group rides. It’s such a great way to connect with fellow cycling enthusiasts and explore different routes around Malaga. “There are a lot of great bike shops in Girona, but this one is among the best. All of the staff — from the shop, to the rental desk, to the cafe, and even those I cycled passed on the ESC tours van — are super warm and friendly. All of the ESC folks seemed interested in conversing and connecting with me, and not just because I was a customer. That genuine culture is awesome to have in a company. (The shop was always slammed by the way, as they…”

Summer Cycling Tour FAQs

1
Where are the best destinations for summer cycling tours?

It depends on what kind of ride you’re after. The Alps and Iceland are at their best in summer, with long days and dramatic landscapes. For something more coastal, Mallorca and North Spain are hard to beat. Browse all our summer cycling tours to find the right fit.

2
Is summer a good time to go cycling abroad?

It is one of the best times to travel. Long days give you more time in the saddle, temperatures are warm and most of our summer destinations are at their most scenic between June and August. Just book early as summer tours fill up fast.

3
What level of fitness do I need for a cycling holiday in summer?

It varies by tour. We rate everything from Level 1 (Leisure) to Level 4 (Epic), so whether you are looking for a gentle introduction or a serious challenge, there is a summer tour to suit you. Each tour page clearly outlines daily distance, ride time and elevation.

4
Can I do a summer cycling tour as a solo traveller?

Absolutely. Solo riders are very welcome on all group departures and it is a great way to meet like-minded cyclists. Take a look at our dedicated solo cycling tours page for more information.

5
Are Eat Sleep Cycle’s summer tours guided or self-guided?

Both options are available. Guided tours put you in the hands of an experienced local guide who knows every climb and café worth stopping at. Self-guided tours come with detailed route notes and GPX files so you can ride at your own pace.

6
How far in advance should I book a summer cycling holiday?

As early as possible. July and August departures in particular book up quickly. If you have left it late, check our last-minute cycling tours page for availability.

7
What happens if I need to cancel my summer cycling tour?

Take a look at our cancellation policy and if you have any questions just get in touch and we will be happy to help.
