Take on one of the most scenic cycling loops in Europe with our Pirinexus Road Tour—a self-guided road cycling adventure that starts and ends in the beautiful city of Girona.
Based on the classic Pirinexus route, this version is designed for intermediate road cyclists, swapping gravel for smooth tarmac and taking you on a stunning cross-border journey through Catalonia and southern France. You’ll head north through rolling countryside and up into the Pyrenees, crossing into France at Puigcerdà, and return to Spain via the charming town of Céret.
We take care of the details—you just focus on the riding. We’ll book your accommodation, transfer your luggage each day, and provide a full itinerary with GPX files to keep you on track. The tour kicks off with a meet & greet at the Eat Sleep Cycle Hub in Girona, where you’ll get everything you need to set off with confidence.
Rated 2 out of 4 our Intermediate tours are designed for sporty people who are looking to enjoy some more challenging rides. E-bikes are available on all of our tours.
The adventure kicks off in Girona, the home of Eat Sleep Cycle. No sooner have you arrived and the bikes are set up, the tour begins with its first leg from Girona to Ripoll. A gentle uphill climb all the way, the first day takes you 88 km northwards into the volcanic Catalan region of La Garrotxa. Stop for lunch in one of the villages en route, spend a restful night in Mas el Mir
You’ll leave the medieval town of Ripoll and follow the quiet mountain roads through the scenic Catalan Pyrenees. The highlight of the day is the climb up to Coll de la Creueta (1,920 m) – a spectacular and steady ascent with stunning views of the surrounding valleys. The descent toward Puigcerdà offers panoramic alpine landscapes and a smooth road finish into town.
Today’s ride takes you across borders and through two stunning regions of the Pyrenees. You’ll leave the high-altitude charm of Puigcerdà and descend into the wild beauty of the French Cerdagne, winding through mountain villages, river valleys, and chestnut forests. With wide views of the Canigou massif and a descent into sunlit southern France, this stage is all about breathtaking vistas and the thrill of discovery.
Today’s ride dives deeper into the eastern Pyrenees, shifting from the gentle lakeside beauty of Vinça into the rugged terrain of the Albères foothills, just before the Pyrenees tumble into the Mediterranean Sea. Expect sweeping views, hidden gorges, scented pine forests, and the thrill of riding roads that feel like they were made just for you.
Today’s ride is your grand finale—a soulful journey that leaves behind the lush valleys of southern France, climbs gently over the Albères mountains, and rolls triumphantly back into Catalonia, Spain. From ancient villages and wide-open skies to sun-drenched vineyards and the final stretch toward your peaceful rural retreat, this ride is all about reflection, beauty, and the joy of the road.
Sadly, it’s time to say farewell! Choose to ride the final kms back to Girona or take a transfer with your luggage and bikes.
