Our Favourite cycling tours in Patagonia

“Organization and logistics were perfect from start to finish. The accommodations and meals were great, the camping night meal was mind blowing; to have a private chef cook fireside for us like that was incredible. The routes were super challenging but worth every pedal for the views we got along the way.”

FAQs

1
What rider level is best for a Patagonia cycling tour?
You don’t need to be a pro, but you should have regular cycling experience and be comfortable with sustained riding and climbing. We rate our tours from Level 1 (Leisure) to Level 4 (Epic). Each tour contains a description of the level, expected daily ride time, distance, and elevation. If you have any doubts, we're more than happy to speak to you on the phone and help you find the perfect trip!
2
When is the best time to cycle in Patagonia?
Most Patagonia tours run during the southern summer, from December to March. Days are longer, and conditions are generally more stable. Outside these months, the weather can be colder and more changeable, especially in remote regions.
3
Can I hire a bike in Patagonia or bring my own?
You have both options. A fleet of high-quality rental bikes (road, gravel, e-bikes) is available, but if you prefer to bring your own, that’s possible too. It’s best to check at the time of booking to confirm arrangements.
4
Which parts of Patagonia will I ride through?
Our Patagonia tours focus on the Lake District of southern Chile and Argentina. Road tours explore Chile’s Great Lakes region, riding around Llanquihue Lake and through areas near Puerto Varas and the surrounding volcanoes. Gravel tours head further into remote landscapes, including the 7 Lakes region that links Chile and Argentina. Depending on the itinerary, routes pass through forests, lakesides and mountain valleys, with some tours crossing the border between the two countries.
5
What kind of terrain will I ride on?
Road tours use paved roads around lakes and through valleys, with steady climbing and long stretches between towns. Gravel tours follow wide dirt roads and backcountry tracks that are generally firm but can vary depending on the weather. Distances can be long, and services are sometimes spread out.
6
What’s included in a Patagonia cycling tour?
Guided multi-day tours typically include accommodation, ride leadership and on-road support. Bike hire and e-bike options are available to add. Flights, insurance and personal expenses aren’t included unless stated.
7
What should I pack for my trip?
Patagonia’s weather can change quickly, so layers are essential. Bring clothing for wind and rain, a warmer kit for cooler days, and sun protection. You’ll receive specific packing advice before departure based on your tour.
