Welcome to Slovenia! Ride from the capital city of Ljubljana north to the Logar Valley, climb in Austria and descend to Lake Bled. Climb into the Julian Alps and finish in the pretty mountain village of Bovec.
The tour showcases some of the best roads and historical insights into this tiny but scenic country. It’s for riders wanting to espace the crowds, immerse themselves in nature and enjoy warm hospitality.
Rated 3 out of 4 our Advanced tours are designed for people who ride regularly and want back to back challenging days on the bike. Riders should be confident riding in a small group, comfortable on extended climbs (at your own pace) and have good bike handling skills on corners and descents. E-bikes are available on all of our tours.
Meet the team at the hotel in the capital, Ljubljana. Head off on a short warm up ride up the local climb into Besnica. Before returing, take a detour to Ljubljana Castle – originally a medieval fortress rebuilt in the 12th Century. We can arrange private transfers on request from Ljubljana or Trieste.
The journey begins by riding up into Logar Valley. This is a beautiful region with alpine glacial valleys which flow into the Kamnik-Savinja Alps in the north of Slovenia. This ride has a long and steady ascent, a nice way to get the legs moving.
Begin with the main challenge of the day as you climb into Austria – a 9 km climb gaining 700 metres. There is a short and sweet descent before tackiling the second and more gentle climb into the Jezersko region of Slovenia. There are plenty of coffee stop opportunities to refuel before reaching Lake Bled.
Today can be taken as a rest day or a recovery ride by riding down to Lake Bohinj, where the moutains are mirrored into the lake. Enjoy wine tasting by Lake Bled in the afternoon and regain your stengths for the next days ride.
Another mountain awaits you today, the Vršič Pass. This was formally known as the Russian Road and was built for military services. The climb features 50 hairpins and breathtaking views. Arrvive into Bovec and recharge by going for a swin in the Soca valley.
Today has two options. You can either test your legs up the Mangart Saddle (2055 m) offerring panoramic views of Slovenia. Or, take a more relaxing but equally beautiful ride along the valley down to Tolmin village and back.
Sadly, it is time to depart. A group transfer departs for Ljubljana at 10:00 am. Private transfers to Tireste can be arrange on request.
