Summary

Ride the scenic landscapes of Mallorca on our 6 night self-guided tour which captures the very best of this island cycling paradise. The journey begins in the town of Pollença in the North East, giving riders a taste of local life on Mallorca. Take on some of the most impressive climbs such as Sa Calobra and Cap Formentor before heading west to stay in the Tramuntana mountains. Visit the monastery at Lluc, climb Soller and, on the penultimate day of riding prepare for jaw dropping scenery on the coast road to Andratx. Spend the last two nights in the village of Sineu, a perfect base to ride the flat roads to the east of the island and see some of the islands wine region, and home to the iconic Sineu velodrome.

Stay in boutique, family run hotels in Pollença, Valldemosa and Sineu, enjoy delicious Mallorquin food and wines.

Riders should be confident riding in a small group, comfortable on extended climbs (at your own pace) and have good bike handling skills on corners and descents. Day 1
Welcome to Mallorca

Welcome to Mallorca! Meet at your first hotel in Pollença at 12:00 (noon). Warm muscles function better than those pushed into tough efforts right away, so today’s ride has two goals: loosen your legs out for the week ahead and make sure your bike is dialled in. Today’s ride is an out and back 41 km coastal spin to the lighthouse at Cap Formentor.

Welcome briefing with warm up ride to Cap Formentor 44 km, 1000 m
Day 2
Sa Calobra

Ride west from Pollença into the Tramuntana mountain range. Enjoy a gentle warm-up along scenic lanes to Campanet. The climbing starts at km 34. Enjoy a steady 10 km climb to 600 m and the heart of the Tramuntana mountains. Descend to the Port of Sa Calobra at 54 kms – the only way out is a boat, or a 10 km climb back the way you came! A picnic lunch is your reward at the top before descending home.

Day 3
Pollença to Valldemosa

Start the day with a long, steady climb west into the mountains. After 27 km of climbing pause for coffee in Lluc and take some time to visit the monastery. At 40 km pause for a picnic lunch overlooking the Panta de Gorg Blau. Enjoy a 15 km descent before the final, short climb of the day to our idyllic hotel overlooking the coast.

Day 4
Soller & Orient

Today’s ride is one of the highlights of the week. Head north along the coast and turn inland to the switchbacks of Soller & 9 km of beautiful winding road. Descend to the village of Bunyola and start the second ascent of of the day to the picturesque village of Orient (7 km, 5.5% average) Pause for lunch in the village at a local bar. Next comes a fabulous, fast descent and some welcome flat kms. All too soon it’s time to climb again, this time to Valldemossa (6 kms at a steady 5%). Finish the day with the mediterranean on your left for the final kms back to the hotel.

Day 5
Valldemosa to Sineu

Enjoy a gorgeous ride around the west coast of the island and rack up some serious climbing along truly spectacular roads. The climbing finishes after 75 kms just after the village of Puigpunyent. Enjoy a glorious descent into wine-making country & pretty, flat lanes to our resting place in the market town of Sineu. (If you’re looking for an easier ride today, choose the short 57 km, 400 m option).

Day 6
Ermita de Betlem

Explore an entirely different side of Mallorca on today’s ride which takes in the lanes & landscapes in the east of the island. Ride east from the hotel towards the coast. Ride through Santa Margalida & on to Arta, where the main climb of the day begins. 6 kms at 4% takes you to breathtaking views of the coast and the Ermita de Betlem. Cruise home through traditional villages and make sure you save some energy for some celebratory laps on the Sineu velodrome.

SELF-GUIDED

We’ll welcome you to the start of your tour, talk you through the week ahead and ensure you have everything you need to enjoy a great ride.

Guests receive a detailed digital Road Book, containing routes, route descriptions, details of hotels and our recommended places to stop along the way and enjoy in the evenings. Guests can choose to navigate from their own phone or GPS devices are available on request.

On a self-guided tour we take care of your luggage and move it from hotel to hotel. We also provide a contact number for support during the trip and will help you out of any situation.

We recommend that guests are able to fix a puncture and perform basic roadside bike repairs to best enjoy a self-guided tour.

Es Picarol Sineu is an old Mallorcan stately home built in the 19th century and located in the center of the village of Sineu. After a long and careful restoration its old splendor has been recovered, but with all of today’s modern comforts. The striking and colorful facade has been restored respecting the technique and original design.

Emanuela is Italian and after many years living in Barcelona relocated to Mallorca. She started triathlon 10 years ago and has made it her life! Alongside guiding Emanuela hosts guests from all over the world in her Airbnb.

Laura

Laura is a guide, professional cycling coach and endurance cyclist who has completed some of the coolest ultradistance gravel events (which she absolutely loved!). Laura loves guiding as she really enjoys empowering people to ride their bikes and discover new places, help their cycling adventures come true, and share unforgettable moments together.

Mario

During the past 10 years, Mario has lived in different countries, but now he’s back home in Conegliano to ride every steep hill in the area! Despite his focus on road cycling, he’s had some amazing moments with his beloved steel gravel bike! Mario has been a member of the ESC Team since 2019 and couldn’t be happier! He looks forward to seeing you on the road soon!

What happens if I need to cancel the trip?
We have a flexible cancelation policy - please take a look at our cancellation policyat the time of booking. If you have any doubts please reach out and we're happy to help.

Is the tour the right level for me?
We rate our tours from Level 1 (Leisure) to Level 4 (Epic). Each tour contains a description of the level, expected daily ride time, distance and elevation. If you have any doubts we're more that happy to speak to you on the phone and help to find you the perfect trip!

What about bikes? Can I hire one or should I bring my own?
We recommend that you hire a bike for your tour and will work with you after you book to help you to choose the best size and model for your ride style. If you prefer to bring your bike, it's no problem. Please be aware that on some of our epic trips we charge a supplement to transport your bike box to our finishing location. If you have any doubts, please ask!

Is insurance included?
Insurance is not included in our tour packages. We highly recommend contracting travel insurance at the time of reservation with a company from where you are from.

Health insurance which covers you for illness or injury whilst cycling in your chosen destination is mandatory, we'll ask you for details of your insurance provider before you travel.
