Spain Highlights

The Costa Verde

The Costa Verde

Spain’s Costa Verde is the name given to the coast of Asturias, in the north of Spain. The name understandably comes from the lush green fields and pastures that hug the coastline, which are intercepted now and again by wonderful beaches and dramatic cliffs. The area is known for both its MTB and road routes, thanks to the stunning variety of terrain and well-kept roads.

The Alhambra

The Alhambra

The Alhambra is one of the best preserved examples of Islamic architecture in Europe. The site as it stands today bears the scars of the invasions and cultural milieu that make Granada so unique, complete with magnificent palaces, tree-lined walkways and flowing streams. Some of the Alhambra’s highlights include the Courtyard of the Lions, the Generalife gardens and the Palace Of Charles V.

El Alto Del Angliru

El Alto Del Angliru

The Alto del Angliru is thought by some cyclists to be one of the toughest climbs in Spain. It is 12.3 km long and has an average gradient of 10.3%. The gruelling climb is located in the heart of Asturias, a region known for its lush green countryside. The impressive switchbacks make for some incredible views once you reach a higher altitude, especially in summer, the best time to tackle this mightly ascent.

Bilbao

Bilbao

Bilbao is a port city in the north of Spain, home to the Guggenheim Museum designed by Frank Gehry and opened in 1997. A classic mar y montaña (sea and mountain) city, Bilbao combines the best of both worlds in terms of food, culture and leisure activities. Discover culture, art and architecture by day, and taste incredible seafood and delicious wines by night.

San Sebastián

San Sebastián

San Sebastián, or Donostia in the Basque language, is located on the Bay of Biscay in the Spanish Basque Country. Its two main beaches, the Playa de la Concha and Playa de Ondarreta, curve around to create two small bays and a picture-postcard promenade. It is home to some of the best restaurants in the world and is also very popular for its more casual and traditional pintxo bars. This beautiful town, backed by green hills and mountains, is a popular holiday destination among Spanish tourists, and the ideal location for a stroll and cold drink after a long day in the saddle!
