We begin on the banks of the Saône in Mâcon with an interactive visit to the Cité des Climats et des Vins de Bourgogne. Explore the heritage of Burgundy’s UNESCO-listed terroirs before enjoying an introductory tasting of southern Burgundian wines.
After checking into our historic riverside hotel, we assemble for bike fittings and a short, relaxing test ride along the Voie Bleue towpath. In the evening, we gather for our welcome dinner at a classic local brasserie.
Our opening loop explores the undulating limestone hills of the Mâconnais. We pedal through classic vineyards beneath the towering Roche de Solutré, stopping in the heart of Fuissé for a winery visit and tasting of celebrated Pouilly-Fuissé and Saint-Véran white wines.
After a gourmet regional lunch, our afternoon route winds through quiet wine villages including Saint-Vérand and Vinzelles. Smooth backroads bring us comfortably back to Mâcon for an evening at leisure.
Heading north across the Mâconnais, we join a dedicated cycle track leading to the historic Abbey of Cluny. Founded in 910 AD, this vast monastic complex once stood as the spiritual heart of Western Europe.
After visiting the Romanesque abbey, we weave through wooded hills and picturesque villages anchored by ancient stone churches. Our day finishes on the banks of the Saône in medieval Tournus, home to a memorable dinner paired with regional wines.
We kick off the morning with a private cellar visit at Les Vignerons de Mancey, a historic winegrowers’ cooperative founded in 1929. Crossing quiet countryside, we join the Voie Verte cycle path and pedal into the Pinot Noir heartlands of Givry and Mercurey.
Following a scenic picnic lunch, a woodland passage leads us to the Canal du Centre towpath. We ride directly alongside the quiet waterway to our Chagny hotel, where a refreshing pool and regional dinner await.
A gentle riding day carries us through Burgundy’s most legendary Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards. Passing Santenay, Puligny-Montrachet, and Pommard, we pause at a premier estate for an exclusive cellar visit and tasting.
We roll into Beaune with ample time to visit the iconic Hospices de Beaune, famous for its colorful tiled roof and historic charitable wine auction. Enjoy an evening exploring Beaune’s ancient cobbled streets and independent dining options.
Our final ride heads north under the Grand Cru slopes of Corton toward Nuits-Saint-Georges. We pause in town for coffee and a cellar tasting before enjoying a vineyard picnic lunch.
Our return route passes world-famous estates along the Route des Grands Crus, including the legendary vines of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. Back in Beaune, we gather for a celebratory farewell dinner, raising a glass of fine Burgundian wine to an unforgettable week.
Enjoy a relaxed final breakfast at Hôtel de la Poste as our Burgundian cycling adventure comes to a close. Take a morning walk through Beaune’s medieval center or pick up local regional wine before checking out.
Our team assists with hotel check-out, luggage, and transfers to nearby Beaune train station. Au revoir et bon voyage! We wish you safe travels on your journey home or toward your next destination.

A passionate recreational cyclist, she loves sharing quiet roads, beautiful scenery and local culture with guests. Chatty, welcoming and endlessly enthusiastic, Susan is happiest when everyone is enjoying the ride—whether that’s discovering a hidden village, stopping for coffee, or celebrating the day’s adventure with a delicious meal and, of course, a well-earned glass of rosé.
After more than 20 years working in Formula One, David swapped the high-pressure world of motorsport for life in the French Alps. He moved to France to embrace a more relaxed lifestyle and spend more time exploring the mountains by road and trail.
A keen road and former mountain bike racer, David has been guiding since 2008 and loves sharing his favourite routes, local knowledge and passion for great food and wine. Alongside his wife, Susan, he enjoys creating relaxed, memorable cycling holidays where guests feel welcome from day one. Thanks to his engineering expertise, he’s also always happy to make sure your bike is running as smoothly at the end of the day as it was at the beginning.
France has a way of pulling cyclists in. Maybe it’s the sweep of the mountains, the quiet backroads through vineyards, or the simple pleasure of rolling into a sunlit village for a coffee that somehow tastes better than anywhere else. Our cycling holidays in France are built around those moments. You can take on iconic climbs straight from the Tour de France, spin between châteaux, or wander through river valleys at a gentler pace. Whatever your riding style, we craft tours that feel personal, supported by local knowledge, great food, and the kind of atmosphere that turns a good trip into an unforgettable one.
