This is a tour designed for road cyclists looking to experience the incredible riding around Medellín, the year-round training ground for many pro-riders and teams.
Stay in the exclusive Club Campestre Llanogrande, a peaceful retreat located outside the city borders and perfectly placed to enjoy the best road riding. Take on the classic climbs, including La Unión, Santa Elena, Concepción, Alto de las Rayas and Pantalio. Our last night is spent in Medellín centre with Alto de Las Palmas providing the grand finale of the week the following morning.
Post-ride guests are invited to focus on rest & recovery. The Club has great facilities to enjoy and we can arrange massages on request. Evening meals will be enjoyed in nearby local restaurants, offering the perfect chance to try Colombian food.
We recommend arriving in Medellín a few days before the trip to acclimatise – we start climbing at 2,000 m! This trip is best enjoyed by experienced cyclists who are comfortable in traffic, can hold a wheel and ride in a group. Whilst Colombian drivers are really accommodating to cyclists, there are occasional busy sections on some routes which new riders will not appreciate.
This trip is also available for private groups of 4 guests or more. For the most experienced groups we also offer a light support option – you can ride self-guided and we’ll provide moto support & nutrition stops. Get in touch for pricing!
Rated 3 out of 4 our Advanced tours are designed for people who ride regularly and want back to back challenging days on the bike. Riders should be confident riding in a small group, comfortable on extended climbs (at your own pace) and have good bike handling skills on corners and descents. E-bikes are available on all of our tours.
Meet the group at 10:00 at Club Campestre Llanogrande. We’ll get set up on the bikes, brief you for the week ahead and set out on our first ride! The first ride is a classic and we’ll enjoy our first climb of the week to La Unión. Nestled in the Andean highlands, La Unión is a charming rural town known for its rolling green hills and cool climate. The climb is 7 km and has a steady average gradient of 5%. Climb number two is a steeper 2.5 km from the town of La Ceja. Don’t forget – we can arrange transfers from the airport or Medellín and arrange additional nights of accommodation if you’re arriving early.
Santa Elena is a lush, mountainous region famous for its flower farms and traditional silletera culture. With winding roads and dense forests, it’s a perfect spot for cyclists seeking a mix of nature, elevation, and breathtaking views. The climb streches 7.8 km with an average gradient of 5.4%.
A hidden gem in Antioquia, Concepción is a beautifully preserved colonial town surrounded by stunning mountain landscapes. The ride to Concepción offers a mix of challenging climbs and rewarding descents, passing through coffee plantations and rural villages. After a delicious coffee in Concepción take on the out and back climb to the newly paved Alto de las Rayas. It’s 7 km long with an average gradient of 6.4% and ramps of up to 11%. The climb out of Concepción also offers a nice challenge – the Alto de las Frias is 8.3 km with an average of 5.7%. Note we transfer to our ride start and end point in San Vicente. Private groups can opt to ride from the hotel for a big 122 km / 2,100 m day!
Today’s route connects two of Antioquia’s most picturesque towns, offering cyclists a blend of cobbled streets, lush forests, and artisanal charm. El Retiro is known for its woodcraft and cafe traditions, while El Carmen de Viboral is famous for its handmade ceramics. The ride itself is rolling all day, with the key climb of the day to Pantalio (4 km / 5.4%)
A natural paradise just outside Medellín, Parque Arví is a cyclist’s haven with well-maintained roads winding through a biodiverse cloud forest. The park provides cool weather, fresh air, and stunning views. Our loop takes us up a challenging 6 km climb to the park, then continues to the summit of Las Palmas.
Finish the week with an early start to climb the iconic Las Palmas whilst it’s closed to traffic on Sunday morning. It’s a bucket list experience for every road cyclist in the world! At the top of Las Palmas enjoy a delicious coffee before descending back down into the city. We can arrange transfers for you, or ask about extending the trip with our Alto de las Letras experience.
